Virtual Instructor-Led Training
This interactive one-day Virtual Instructor-Led Training course provides information about standardized flagging procedures for the construction industry in Alberta through engaging and collaborative activities on our online platform. The course is intended for trainers who will be providing training to workers who will be on-site performing flagging to aid in temporary traffic control (boots-on-the-ground flaggers). This training includes responsibilities of the flagger, common hazards and controls, practices, procedures and equipment, in addition to other related topics covered below.

Course Topics

  • Legislated responsibilities for the employer and the flagger
  • Developing a training program for workers with varying levels of flagging experience
  • A flagger's responsibility to protect themselves, co-workers, and the public
  • Correct flagging practices, procedures, equipment, and clothing
  • Communicating with co-workers and the public
  • Dealing with emergency vehicles and other exceptional situations

Certification

Participants must achieve a minimum score of 80% on the individual post-course open-book online test.

Certification allows participants to use ACSA's material to deliver Flagger training at their work sites (non-commercial use only). Trainers must re-certify in this course every three years.

Prerequisites

No prerequisite courses are required.

Technology Requirements

Participants are required to have access to a computer with internet access and speakers. Mobile devices (tablets and cell phones) are discouraged. These devices may limit the student experience and ability to participate.
